Red Eye, Thomas Wharton - September 17 - October 31

Recently I have used both readymade rotary dimmer switches and rotary keypads (spindles dimmers) of my own design to make paintings, drawings, and sculptures. These spindles can be press fit into a pedestal or specific wall receptacles to control a variety of luminaires including table lamps, track lights, or other lighting solutions. I have also designed them with qualities of light in mind: they are lightly grounded, just touching or grazing a base; they have surfaces that specifically reflect or diffuse; and they are symmetrical.

For the exhibition at “My Friend Sparksburg” I have made a base, like a wall candle sconce, to suspend a single a spindle.
